Human Resource Management - Associate Degree

Associate's Degree

Organizations want to attract, motivate, and retain the most qualified employees and match them to jobs for which they are best suited. Human resources professionals provide this connection.

According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook (2010-2011 Edition) from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the human resources occupations is expected to grow at a much faster rate than average for all occupations. The Handbook also states that legislation and court rulings revising standards in various areas—occupational safety and health, equal employment opportunity, wages, healthcare, retirement plans and family leave—will increase demand for human resources experts.

Our online Human Resource Management programs are designed to prepare you to assist in—and lead—HR functions in business, industry, government and nonprofit organizations. Coursework will lead you to explore how HR professionals develop and attract employees, handle disputes, conduct discipline and work with a variety of people in an array of work settings.

Upon graduation, you should be able to effectively manage issues such as compensation and benefits, perform employee training, manage staffing, understand labor relations, organizational communications and more.
