The Birmingham, Alabama, campus of Virginia College was a major sponsor of the recent Crawfish Boil charity music festival in the city. The school had a banner across the "Virginia College Main Stage," as well as having commercials for the school's programs playing on the giant video screens on each side of the stage. Staff, students, and those interested in the school's career programs were able to visit the special VIP area.
Performers included Alice in Chains, Goo Goo Dolls, The B-52s, Jason Derullo, Train, Akon, Seether, and Jay Sean. The festival has benefited such charities as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, Camp Smile-A-Mile, The Tanner Center for Multiple Sclerosis, and the Birmingham Junior League.
