Virginia College News

Education Corporation of America (ECA), the parent company of Virginia College Online, has announced the promotion of Stan Banks to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Virginia College Online. Banks was formerly president of the online degree school.

ECA CEO Tom Moore says, "Stan and his team have done an outstanding job of developing the Virginia College Online operation. His vast educational experience spans over twenty years and he has always worked with operations that put the student first. That has certainly been the case at Virginia College Online, and that is a prime reason for our spectacular but controlled growth. Stan always puts the student educational experience before any other consideration and that is our mission at all ECA schools."

Banks has held positions including Director of Admissions for United Electronics Institute and President of Edmondson Junior College in Tennessee. In 1992, Stan became the President of Florida Metropolitan University Brandon Campus. He moved to FMU Online as President in 2003, increasing enrollment by more than 3,000 students in two years.

Moore says, "This promotion recognizes both outstanding work and the future importance of the growth of the online sector to the overall success of the company. Stan will report directly to me as a member of the Executive Leadership Team."

ECA also owns and operates Virginia College on-ground campuses in Mobile, Montgomery, Birmingham and Huntsville, Alabama; Biloxi and Jackson, Mississippi; Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Austin, Texas as well as the Golf Academy of America with campuses in San Diego, Phoenix, Myrtle Beach, and Orlando.
