Birmingham-based Education Corporation of America has announced several key executive promotions at its Virginia College Online division as the school continues to rapidly expand its student base and curriculum offerings.

ECA Executive Vice-President—Human Resources Mike Williams says, "I am pleased to make a very important announcement concerning three of our current management team members. As of May 22, Ed Stanko, Chris Freeman and Darrel Hanbury have each been promoted to the position of Vice-President in each of his respective departments. As we continue to grow aggressively, it is important that we build the appropriate structure to address the needs of our expanding student population. These changes are designed to enable a smooth and seamless student and employee experience as we continue to pursue maximum performance and growth. We are pleased that this growth is creating opportunities for our deserving employees who are contributing to that expansion and assuring a quality educational experience for our students."

Stanko will serve as Vice-President of Operations. In this position, he will be responsible for P&L management, budgeting, cost control, team building, and other critical areas of the school's infrastructure.

Freeman will serve as Vice-President of Academics. In this capacity, he will work to improve delivery and quality of the educational offerings. This will continue to include overseeing the academic program directors, monitoring student retention, making improvements in curriculum to meet the needs of both students and employers, and helping to develop new programs and processes.

Hanbury's new position is Vice-President of Admissions, and he will be charged with continuing to grow the school's admissions staff, overseeing the assistant directors of admissions and their teams, and working closely with the marketing department to create interest in the school.

All three positions will report directly to Stan Banks, President – Virginia College Online.
