Carpenter Joins ECA in Academic Role

Dr. Mary Carpenter has joined Birmingham, Alabama-based Education Corporation of America’s academics team. She will serve in the position of Corporate Director of Curriculum Development and will report to Dr. Richard Dormuth, Senior Vice-President of Academic Affairs. In her capacity, she will work closely with administrative and instructional personnel at all levels from all Virginia College and Golf Academy of America on-ground campuses as well as Virginia College programs offered online via the Internet.
Prior to joining ECA, Dr. Carpenter served as adjunct professor at Athens Technical College, was Vice-President of Education and Instructional Design at the ChildCare Education Institute, and headed the Education Department at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, where she taught courses in curriculum development at the graduate school level. She also worked for several years as an instructional designer at CompuCredit Corporation and has many years of teaching experience at the K-12, undergraduate, and graduate academic levels.
Dr. Carpenter earned her doctorate degree in Education from the University of Massachusetts, has a M.S. degree in Psychology from Millersville University in Pennsylvania, and a B.A. degree in Psychology from Point Park College in Pittsburgh.
