Newest ECA School Begins Enrolling Students for July Class Start
Posted: Wednesday, April 14, 2010

The newest school owned and operated by Birmingham, Alabama-based Education Corporation of America (ECA) has begun enrolling students. Located in Aurora, Colorado, near Denver, Ecotech Institute is the first and only college entirely devoted to preparing students for careers in renewable energy and sustainable design. The school will offer eight different programs including Electrical Engineering Technology, Energy and Environmental Paralegal, Solar Energy Technology, and Wind Energy Technology.
Each program was designed with input from experts in the industry for people seeking careers in the emerging clean tech economy. A study recently released by Navigant Consulting found that the number of renewable energy jobs would more than double by 2025 if the nation adopted a plan to require 25 percent of its electricity from renewable sources. A Pew Trust study determined that jobs in clean energy increased by more than 9 percent from 1998 to 2007, as compared to overall job growth of only 3.7 percent.
As part of the launch, and to show support for mass transit as opposed to less efficient means of transportation, Ecotech has wrapped several cars on one of the main lines for the Denver light rail system.
Ecotech President Michael Seifert says, "We are excited about meeting the needs of employers in this vital industry and helping students gain the skills they need to pursue careers in this rapidly growing area."
