Virginia College in Austin Attends Ft. Hood Military Event

Posted: Monday, March 1, 2010

Virginia College at Austin Admissions Associates Bret Althiser, Pati Monk and Dan Darden recently attended Hood Howdy on the military base at Ft. Hood in Killeen, Texas. The event, hosted by the base's Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, is for new additions to the Ft. Hood family and allows them to get information on a variety of merchants, agencies and schools in the Killeen area.

"I think the event was well run and was a great success for the Austin campus," said Darden. "We were able to connect with more than fifty families and all of them had members interested in the programs we offer."

While there, the team distributed print information about Virginia College at Austin, spoke with prospective students and their families and handed out a variety of Virginia College "Success Gear."

Althiser was particularly complimentary of the MWR. "We had a great time interacting with the soldiers, airmen and their families and friends. I would really like to thank Tashika Dixon and the whole MWR staff because they put on a fantastic event that benefits everyone involved."

The MWR is responsible for all the events and facilities that improve the quality of life for military members and their families. The next Hood Howdy will take place at the Hood Club in Killeen in August and more information can be found at http://www.hoodmwr.com/hoodhowdy.htm.
