Jacksonville's Virginia College and Culinard to Host Ribbon Cutting and Open House February 25th

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville community will have the opportunity to tour Jacksonville's Virginia College and Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College on Thursday, Feb. 25th at the campus' official Ribbon Cutting and Open House. Guests will see the school's 54,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art campus, which represent a $5 million remodeling investment.

WHEN: Thursday, February 25, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. (Ribbon Cutting at 5:30 p.m.)
WHERE: 5940 Beach Boulevard (corner of Beach and University)-- Jacksonville, Florida

"Our students, instructors and staff are enthusiastic about the opportunities offered by Virginia College and Culinard," says Campus President Milton Anderson, "and we are thrilled to open our doors to the community to put our beautiful campus on display. The community has already given us a warm welcome and we look forward to a continued partnership with local employers."

Invited to the Open House and Ribbon Cutting are local business owners, city officials and community members interested in learning more about the school. Guests are encouraged to participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony, which will take place at the main entrance at 5:30 p.m. Afterwards, guests will be toured by members of the Virginia College staff and will enjoy hors d' oeuvres by Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College.

Virginia College in Jacksonville features technical programs in the medical sector -- medical assisting, surgical technology and pharmacy technician -- in addition to programs such as medical office management and medical billing and coding. Government statistics indicate these are among the fastest growing career fields, both nationally and locally. The school also offers cosmetology and a salon that makes student services available to the public.

Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College is a recent addition in Jacksonville and offers a unique immersive curriculum that has students in the kitchen the first day of class and into their new culinary career in only 36 weeks. Culinard's state-of-the-art teaching kitchens are now completed and will be part of the open house tour.
