Virginia College Jacksonville Holds Open House, Ribbon Cutting

Posted: Wednesday, March 31, 2010

The new Virginia College location in Jacksonville, Florida, recently held an open house and ribbon cutting event to welcome dignitaries, elected officials and the community to the new facility. In addition to the classrooms, labs, and offices, the event also introduced visitors to the new Culinard culinary arts teaching kitchens and The Café at Culinard, a retail restaurant located in the same building that allows students to experience real-world restaurant management.

Campus President Milton Anderson and Tom Moore, CEO of Virginia College parent company Education Corporation of America, cut the ribbon and welcomed guests. Campus staff conducted tours while guests enjoyed food prepared by Culinard students and staff.

"We were thrilled by the response, despite very un-Florida-like weather," Anderson says. "We are proud of what we bring to the community and the reception to Virginia College and our unique brand of education has been tremendous."

The school is located at the corner of Beach and University in Jacksonville, and represents an investment of approximately $6 million. The school employs more than 100 people and will soon have more than 1,000 students in programs ranging from health and medical to cosmetology. The cosmetology program also supports an in-house, student-operated salon facility that is open to the public. Students from the program, along with those from the therapeutic massage program, also pampered guests during the open house event.

The school's web site is www.vc.edu/jacksonville and the phone number is 904-520-7400.
