Jennings Named Online Coordinator of the Year

Jennings Named Online Coordinator of the Year

Posted: Monday, February 1, 2010

Campus Online Coordinators at the various Virginia College on-ground schools are the people who assist hybrid students--those taking both online and on-ground classes--with things like logging on, using the technology, and balancing the two different methods of learning. Now, in recognition of how well she has accomplished this goal, the coordinator at the Huntsville, Alabama, campus of Virginia College has been named Online Coordinator of the Year. Linda Jennings has worked for the Huntsville school since 2006, but she is also a graduate and student. She received her Associate's in Administrative Office Management and Bachelor's in Private Sector Accounting and is currently enrolled in the Master's of Business Administration program.

When she began her position, Jennings designed the Online Handbook, a guide for hybrid students who, like her, were taking a combination of classes. Much of that handbook has now been adopted for all Virginia College campuses to use. As with the coordinators at other schools, she works closely with students from their first log-in until they complete their online classes.

Shea Terracin, Director of Student Experience at Virginia College at Huntsville, says, "It is often a challenge for students accustomed to physically sitting in class and interacting face-to-face with an instructor to adapt to the online environment. We place great emphasis on making sure our students have the best chance to succeed and thanks to people like Linda Jennings and our other coordinators, we keep that promise to everyone who enrolls."
