Virginia College Online Supports Rapid Growth With Promotions, New Hires

Birmingham-based Virginia College Online—offering classes worldwide via the Internet—has announced several additions to its staff to support tremendous growth in its academic programs. The school recently announced passing the 2,000-student milestone at the beginning of the Fall 2007 quarter.
VC Online President Stan Banks says, "We are excited about our growth and we want to make certain the educational experience for all our students is as positive as it can be."
Chris Ransom has been named Campus Controller. Before joining VCO, Chris was the Director of Planning and Analysis for Education Corporation of America (ECA), the corporate owner of Virginia College, Virginia College Online, and Golf Academy of America. Prior to joining ECA, Chris spent nine years with HealthSouth Corporation in varying roles; the last of which was as Regional Director of Operations for the Physical Therapy Division. Chris has a BS in Accounting from Birmingham-Southern College. He and his wife have two daughters.
Tim Saylor is the new Director of Financial Planning Operations for VC Online. Tim comes to VCO after serving as Director of Finance for ITT Technical Institute for 3 years. He also spent 13 years at Sallie Mae Servicing Corporation, managing business units in loan originations and financial operations. Tim is a 1988 graduate of Jacksonville State University (AL), where he majored in Finance and Management.
The new Dean of Faculty for VC Online is Dr. Bob Jordan, who reports to Dr. Chris Freeman, Vice President of Academics. Dr. Jordan has more than 30 years experience in teaching, both in traditional and distance education environments. The last five years he ran his own educational consulting and research business. Dr Jordan also has previous experience as Dean of Academics for Florida Metropolitan University.
Shana Garrett has joined Virginia College Online as the new Dean of Students. She comes to VCO after serving as Director of Student Services for Westwood College in Fort Worth, Texas. She also previously served as a Program Director for Faculty of the Institute of Health Care at Westwood College. Ms. Garrett is currently completing her Doctorate in Psychology in Organizational Leadership.
Finally, Virginia College Online has named Hugh Jensen its Director of Admissions, reporting to Darrel Hanbury, Vice President of Admissions. Hugh was Director of Admissions for four years at American Inter-Continental University in Portland, Oregon. Hugh holds a BS in Finance & Management from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
