ECA Announces Promotions in Student Accounts Department

Kathy CheathamBirmingham, Alabama-based Education Corporation of America (ECA) has promoted two people in the Student Accounts Department. Detri Carmack, ECA Vice-President of Student Financing, has announced that Kathy Cheatham has been promoted to the position of Director of Compliance. Cheatham has been employed by ECA for more than four years and has held several key jobs with the company, including most recently that of Director of Student Accounts. She played a lead role in the implementation of the Federal Family Education Loan program at the company's owned-and-operated schools. She also led the efforts in standardizing student accounts procedures across all schools and in the conversion from Alaquest to the CampusVue campus management system. In her new role, Cheatham will be accountable for insuring that the proper processes, procedures and audits are in place at all campuses and at corporate headquarters to meet and exceed regulatory requirements as well as the expectations of students.

Monica GaukerCarmack also announced the promotion of Monica Gauker to Director of Student Accounts to fill Cheatham's previous position. Gauker has worked for Education Corporation of America for over seven years. During that time, she served as a Senior Financial Planning Officer, Financial Planning Director, and most recently as Corporate Financial Planning Trainer. She has been instrumental in developing the training process for Financial Planning Officers and Directors at all campuses. She also played a key role in developing and implementing new policies and procedures related to Financial Planning and Student Accounts daily operations. In her new role, Monica will be accountable for overseeing student accounts. This will include developing and monitoring processes to insure that student accounts are accurate, including billing, debt repayment, stipend checks, and refunds.

Carmack says, "An important service we offer students is making sure they understand the options available to them to pay for their education, and that their accounts are maintained accurately. We are pleased to be able to continue to promote from within to fill these vital positions with people who understand the promises we make to every incoming student."
