Posted: Thursday, June 10, 2010

AEgis Technologies, a small privately held business that provides advanced technology and consulting services to industries worldwide, was awarded Employer of the Year by Virginia College in Huntsville, Alabama. The company was recognized for participating in the computer-generated imaging externship program with Virginia College. AEgis Chief Operating Officer Lance Cooper accepted the award at the college's recent commencement at the Von Braun Civic Center North Hall.

"While our work is more focused on simulation development and real-time, real-world scenario generation, the skills learned in animation and game design cross over into this field and provide a strong foundation for our employees. These traits are what we look for in potential employees and what we have found in the folks we've hired from Virginia College," said Cooper.

Virginia College students Caleb Williams and Torey Massey worked within the AEgis Geospatial Programs Department in coordination with Lee Cox, Virginia College Program Director of Media Arts, to gain practical experience and school credit via the externship. Virginia College graduates Mike Gawerecki, manager and senior 3-D artist; Bobby Dabbs and Brandon Smith, high-resolution 3-D artists; and Michael Adams, Senior Systems Administrator, are also employed by AEgis Technologies.
