Since opening the doors in April 2009, the staff and faculty of the Jacksonville, Florida, campus of Virginia College have eagerly anticipated the first graduates who would receive their diplomas from the school and go on to exciting careers in the workforce. On March 26, 2010, the first twelve Cosmetology graduates successfully completed their coursework. One of those, shown here receiving her diploma, was Ebony Elliot who, by having her last name as the first in the alphabet, became the school's first official graduate.
"Thank you Ebony, and all your classmates, for blazing the trail for the many other future graduates here at Virginia College in Jacksonville," says Academic Dean Richard Goodpasture as he hands Ebony the very first diploma.
