Virginia College's Online Division was a sponsor of the 5k walk/run "Strides Against Breast Cancer" in downtown Tampa, FL. Some participated in memory of relatives and friends lost to the disease. Others had beaten cancer and walked or ran to let others know "It can be done and I am fighting with you!"
The Virginia College team included Stan Banks, Glenn Robinson, Rick Tribble, Mark Godfrey, Angie Braunschweig, Michelle Anderson, Marilyn Williams, Karla Gross, Bryn Dojka, Stephanie Dowdy, Luzette Pagan, Kristine Klink, and Ciara McMillan.
Virginia College Admissions Associate Neil Williams was one of the 2,400 people who walked or ran in the 38th annual Lexington Medical Center Governor's Cup Road Race in Columbia, SC. He finished 104th of 930 runners with a time of 1 hour, 39 minutes.
Virginia College students Alice Jenkins and Alexis Murray (pictured above with University of South Carolina mascot, Cocky) joined Deona Albright (Student Services) in maintaining a water stop station for the duration of the race.
Race proceeds benefit "Eat Smart Move More South Carolina," an organization dedicated to obesity prevention through physical activity and nutritional education initiatives.
